Autumn olives are shrubs native to Asia which are highly invasive in the north central US, including in Michigan. They are often found along the sides of highways, in grassy areas, and in wasteland. Although the shrubs are very damaging because they outcompete native plants, they do produce a very tasty and nutritious fruit in abundance which can be harvested in mid September. In this video I talk about the plant and harvest some autumn olives, and I might show how to process them into jam in a future video.
