𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬: Homeless Man Drags Belongings as Venice Cleanup Crews Move In

Описание: VENICE, CA — Friday, March 6, 2026 — A coordinated multi-agency homelessness cleanup operation unfolded Friday morning along Rose Avenue in Venice as the City of Los Angeles continued sanitation and public-safety efforts in the coastal neighborhood.

Several individuals were observed on the sidewalk along Rose Avenue when crews arrived, appearing to use the area for camping. They were directed to clear the area and advised that property left behind would be subject to removal under Los Angeles Municipal Code §56.11, which prohibits sitting, lying, sleeping, or storing personal belongings in public rights-of-way when it obstructs access or creates health and safety concerns.

The cleanup was conducted under a posted 72-hour Notice of Major Cleaning in accordance with city protocol. The operation was led by the Department of Public Works with support from the Los Angeles Police Department, Venice Safe Team, Environmental Compliance Inspectors (ECI), Clean Harbors Environmental Services, and the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA).

After individuals cleared the area, sanitation crews removed accumulated debris associated with the encampment. Environmental Compliance Inspectors and hazardous-materials specialists identified and safely removed potentially hazardous items such as batteries and aerosol containers. Clean Harbors personnel handled the disposal of hazardous materials, while Public Works crews cleared trash and bulky debris from surrounding sidewalks and nearby access points.

A representative from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office was present to assist with coordination among responding agencies. LAHSA outreach workers were also on site offering referrals to available supportive services for those impacted by the cleanup.

No arrests or citations were reported during the operation.

City officials continue to describe these operations as part of an ongoing strategy to maintain accessibility in public spaces and address sanitation and safety concerns while pairing enforcement actions with outreach and service referrals. Officials also acknowledge that individuals sometimes return to previously cleared areas and reestablish temporary encampments between scheduled cleanings.
