Today’s shave was about passing the time when the weather keeps you confined.
I reused the dried lather from my last “clown puke” soap shave — odds and ends mixed together — and paired it with a Feather AC/SS razor. While shaving, I talked about winter camp life and how soldiers passed the time when storms kept them close to tents or commandeered buildings.
Card games like loo were common — not euchre yet, but similar in spirit — alongside quiet work like maintaining gear, mending clothing, and dealing with constant problems like lice. Winter wasn’t heroic; it was about staying occupied, staying warm, and staying human.
I finished with Gabels Bay Rum for a clean, classic close.
