SEAM BY KNITTING
You will be joining along an already bound off edge which will look different depending on the cast on, cast off, or knitted edge. Generally you will insert your knitting needle into both legs of what will look like a V. This is true for all edges. If you look at the cast on edge you will see a line of V going along the edge. A knitted item with a Stockinette Stitch will show the Vs going up its edge, it is harder to see on garter stitch. You can use this technique when creating a seamed edge on a hat or other item so you don’t have to sew it. This technique also helps to maintain the knit stitch natural stretch. Keep in mind where your right and wrong sides of you knitting will be as you pick up your stitches.
