KNIT KITCHENER STITCH
The instructions below will allow you to seam your knitting using a knitted variation of the Kitchener Stitch. There must be an equal number of stitches on 2 needles and the needles should be held parallel to each other with the stitches across from each other. The needle with the tail is located in the back, ie the back needle. The front needle is the one that is closest to you.
The stitches on the needle are worked twice per the instructions below.
SET UP
Insert the needle into the 1st stitch of the front needle as if to knit. Draw the yarn through and leave the stitch on the needle. Insert the needle into the 1st stitch of the back needle as if to purl. Draw the yarn through and leave the stitch on the needle.
Now begins the repeat.
Insert needle as if to purl in the 1st stitch of the front needle, same stitch as before, pull the yarn through and slip the stitch off the needle. Insert needle into next stitch of front needle as if to knit and draw the yarn through. Leave the stitch on needle.
Insert the needle as if to knit in the 1st stitch of back needle, same stitch as before, pull the yarn though and slip the stitch off the needle. Insert needle into next stitch on the back needle as if to purl and draw the yarn through. Leave the stitch on the needle.
Rep the last 2 steps until there are 2 stitches left, 1 stitch on each needle. To end the stitch just purl the 1st stitch on the front needle, pull the yarn through and slide both stitches off the needle.
