An older mine found on the side of Comet Mountain in Montana, this explore was a challenging one. The mine is all above 9,000 feet in elevation, and closes in at almost 9,600 feet at the top, close to the summit of Comet Mountain.
This mine is a beautiful example of something unknown. Few records exist of this mine, most calling it either the GAR mine or the Comet, and some state that production began in the 1880's and even extended all the way to exploration performed in the 1960's. No matter what though, this is an interesting site for the lack of production. Very little rock was pulled out, but a large amount of work was done for that small amount. The miners here made a rough attempt at getting this site up and running, but it just never panned out. No matter what though, we end up seeing just how much work they put into this incredible site!
