On the weekend of Saturday 9 May and Sunday 10 May 2015, Steamrail Victoria ran their annual shuttles out of Ballarat, Victoria for the Ballarat Heritage Weekend. As per the last few years, the shuttles operated from Ballarat to Lal Lal block point on the line to Geelong.
The train operated in push-pull mode with Victoria's oldest operating steam loco Y112 leading up the Warrenheip Bank, a heavy 1 in 52 grade (or 2% grade) for three miles facing all up trains. 1940's built K153 was at the Ballarat end of the train.
This video features the shuttles on Saturday 9 May at various lineside locations between Ballarat Station and Lal Lal, including footage of 1889 built Y112 attacking the grade in fine style.
