Stinger Season Begins as NT Teenager Survives Irukandji Jellyfish Sting

Описание: For the top end of Australia, stinger season officially begins next week. But for 13-year-old Indi, it arrived early. She ended up in hospital after getting stung by a deadly Irukandji. She was out kite surfing when it happened and her Dad didn't really know what was going on. Irrukandji are really small, their bells can be the size of a pea, while their tentacles can reach a metre long! Their venom can make people really sick and in some cases people have died.

Stinger season officially starts on the first of October and lasts until the end of May, but jellyfish can still make appearances throughout the dry season as well. Experts say the best advice is to just stay out of the sea at this time of year if you can, follow all the appropriate signs and warnings, and to make sure you're wearing protective clothing that covers your whole body.

EGYPT COFFINS
Archaeologists in Egypt have unearthed dozens of coffins buried more than 2,500 years ago. They were found in an ancient burial ground south of Cairo, near where there are several pyramids. The wooden sarcophagi are pretty special, they're painted and covered in hieroglyphs. Archaeologists are still trying to work out where they came from and who's actually in them but say more of their secrets will be announced soon.

TAJ MAHAL OPENED
India's Taj Mahal has reopened! It's been closed for six months because of COVID-19 but now, authorities have decided to re-open the 17th-century tomb to visitors, although not as many as in the past. There's now a cap on tickets, visitors have to have their temperatures taken and social distancing is in full swing.

We meet an 11-year-old guitarist, Taj Farrant, who is taking the Aussie rock scene by storm. He's been playing alongside some of rocks biggest names, and now he has just released his debut single "Just Can't Sleep".

MACAW ON SOCCER PITCH
This pesky parrot swooped in and landed on this Brazilian soccer players head during the national women's team training in Rio!

ALPACA ON THE SOCCER PITCH
Oscar the Alpaca made his debut as attacking midfielder in this game in England. Just before half-time, Oscar galloped over from a neighbouring farm to kick some goals. The game was put on hold for around 20 minutes before Oscar finally returned to his usual field.
