I received the Elecrow CrowPanel Advanced 10.1” based on ESP32-P4 for review:

I decided to test the screen right away — wrote a simple demo that switches colors and prints text to verify rendering.
Of course, it wasn’t completely smooth 🙂
What we ran into:
1️⃣ CH341 driver doesn’t work on macOS Tahoe
The UART flashing driver simply wouldn’t run. Had to find a workaround.
2️⃣ Solution — flash via the USB 2.0 Device port
Switched the board to download mode and flashed directly through the USB device port — worked perfectly.
3️⃣ ESP-IDF version mismatch
Elecrow examples are written for ESP-IDF 5.4, while we’re using 6.1.
Had to fix 5 API incompatibilities.
4️⃣ Black screen after flashing
The “fun” part 🙂
Turned out PSRAM wasn’t enabled.
A 1024×600 framebuffer requires about 2.4 MB — without external memory the display simply won’t start.
In the end, the screen is up and running, the test works, and next step is going deeper — graphics, LVGL, maybe something interesting with the P4.
