Vapor pressure is an aspect of humidity. It is an important factor to consider when designing an indoor swimming pool natatorium. Keith Coursin, President of Desert Aire, joins us to explain vapor pressure and how it behaves in pools.
Key takeaways:
vapor barriers normally go on the outside of a building to prevent moisture pushing in; but for indoor pools, the vapor barrier needs to be on the inside of the building to prevent moisture pushing out through the walls.
Light nitches and doors also need to be sealed to prevent vapor transfer.
Even if air is being pulled into the building (negative pressure, which is recommended for indoor pools), vapor pressure will still push out.
Vapor pressure is independent of dehumidification. It's inevitable.
