A planning application to improve the city’s outer ring road has been submitted.
The plans include significant improvements with the aim of reducing congestion, moving car journeys out of the city centre and improving active travel facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.

Transcript-
“I just want to take you through a brief overview of the proposed York Outer Ring Road upgrade scheme. The main feature of the scheme will involve building a new road from Rawcliffe, all the way round to Little Hopgrove mainly on the north side, and this will create a dual carriageway. Along that route, all the junctions will be improved and upgraded. Sitting alongside that new road will be a new orbital pedestrian and cycle path and this will be enhanced by six new underpasses and signalised crossings to help people cross the dual carriageway safely. The other main features of the scheme are two new overbridges over the Scarborough rail line and the River Foss, and extensive landscaping and woodland planting to help the scheme sit in the landscape.”
