It is common for the mind to question whether or not progress is being made on the path of spiritual awakening, and to try to figure out how to progress faster and more effectively. The paradox is that the most effective way to experience the desired transformation on the level of form is to totally transcend the level of form by opening to the dimension of formlessness, which is pure being.

Whenever a thought arises, such as 'am I making progress?' recognise that this is simply a thought. Investigate what witnesses the thought. Is that which is aware of the thought itself a thought? This inquiry will bring your attention to rest as the aware witness fully present in the now.

From this perspective of the ultimate Truth the present moment is Divine perfection, there is no progress necessary, nowhere to get to and nothing to acheive. When you live moment to moment fully present in this way, transformation effortlessly takes place on the level of the form as a side effect of applying the teaching.
