It is of prime concern that while gaining weight we should concentrate only on gaining muscles and avoid any fat gain. Muscles always looks beautiful and fat is shape less and looks very unhealthy.
1) Progressive overload – Principle of progressive overload says that to gain weight (muscles) you should lift heavy weights. Lifting heavy weights will induce internal demand for body to gain muscles. Three lifts are of prime importance – Deadlifts, Squats and bench press. All the focus should be to increase poundage in these 3 lifts. As your poundage in these 3 lifts will increase, the demand for muscles required by your body will shoot up, and it will result in increasing our hunger (demand for food) resulting in weight gain if followed by right nutrition and good sleep.
2) Nutrition ( Poshan ) – To gain weight fast we have to chose the way showed by nutrition science. Our food should be rich in nutrition. It should be rich in first class protein sources like milk and milk products, whole eggs, meat, fish etc. Nutrition should be rich in healthy fats like desi ghee, butter & coconut oil. We should work on our habits to read nutrition facts and buy accordingly. In simple language our food should be full of Protein and fats. 75% of body weight is water weight only. Your daily water intake and salt intake plays a very important role in weight gain. Apart from keeping you hydrated it's required in many other functions of body that promotes weight gain for example digestion and absorption of nutrients, increasing your metabolism (supply of energy). It is the biggest mistake to forget about water intake and salt intake in taking care of your nutrition.
3) Rest ( Good Sleep ) – Good sleep is extremely important so that our body can recover from the heavy workouts and get ready for the next one. The biggest mistake that people do in the process of weight gain is not taking enough sleep. Quantity and quality of sleep both are very important. Without quality sleep you would not be able to recover and hence it will delay your weight gain process. Most of the people fail to gain weight even after lot of hard work because they fail to understand the meaning of good sleep.
