What is it?
Opportunity to submit an offer to upgrade your purchased stateroom to a higher category.

How does it work?
Receive an e mail invitation to bid from MSC once your cruise is paid for in full. There is a minimum bid set and you can bid on available options set by MSC. Choose the minimum bid or go as high as you want.

Bid can be accepted anytime up to sail date. Once accepted the full amount is charged and is final & non refundable. Bid price is per passenger but only 2 passengers charged, 3rd & 4th passengers benefit for free. Solo passengers are charged double occupancy.

You will receive the promotions and experience level in the original booking with the exception of Aurea and Yacht Club experience these guests are guaranteed all the benefits related to the new experience. Cabins allocated are at the sole discretion of MSC and subject to availability.

Be aware of:
If you specifically chose your cabin for location, deck or next to the group you are travelling with then upgrading may not be perfect for you.
Groups or linked reservations are not all guaranteed an upgrade, each cabin needs to submit a separate bid and MSC will consider each bid independently.
You cannot add more passengers into a cabin following a successful bid if the other cabin was unsuccessful.
No refund on drink’s packages if you upgraded to Yacht Club
Ensure credit card used for the bid is still valid at time of sailing, you don’t want any issues with payment.

Is it worth it?
Research the price of buying an upgrade directly, cost up the extra benefits you are getting eg. drinks package or spa passes. Base calculation on passengers in cabin eg. first 2 passengers are charged but 3rd and 4th get benefits free. Divide the cost by 4 and it might look more attractive, especially if you were all going to buy a drinks package etc.

Bid on multiple staterooms
Submit a much higher offer than the minimum
If you can only submit the minimum bid, consider increasing it by $1 and you will at least hear all the minimum bidders and increase your chances.
