It is time for a ratchet restoration again!

I got this ratchet from a private person online. Even though the body is made out of brass as you can see in the video it is slightly magnetic. I guess there are to options: Either they added some iron to make the alloy stronger or it actually has a steel core which has a thick layer of brass around it. However in my opinion it is a very cool ratchet, especially because it has a brass handle/body. I have seen drill/tapping ratchets before, but never one like this.
These kind of ratchets were used on a drill stand or something like that which acted as a guide, pretty similar to a bench drill or a milling machine but without the motor, pretty much just the stand. These kind of tools were used between 1880 and 1940 according to my research. Because of the brass body, the rough teeth and the way it was built it is most likely that it was built between 1900 and 1910.
All in all it was a pretty straight forward job.
I finally used my new milling machine on this project and it was really helpful for removing the pitting of the one part. Sanding it flat by hand would've taken much more time.
I was thinking about replacing the original screws with brass screws but at the end I decided to keep the original once and restore the, besides the one that I made because the thread there was too damaged.
