On Friday, April 1, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., CVFD was dispatched to the report of a commercial structure fire in a three-story apartment building in the 1100 block of Brook Highland Lane. Units from Hoover Fire Department and North Shelby Fire Department were also dispatched automatic aid.
Smoke was visible from a distance while responding. B188 arrived on scene to find smoke and fire from the Charlie side (rear) of the building.
The helmet camera footage is from E185's Officer. E185 was the second in company. It shows them working on the third floor of the building.
All crews worked aggressively to bring the fire under control in less than forty-five minutes. Crews remained on scene performing salvage and overhaul operations for another three hours.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the fire.
