Deputy Health Minister, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, represented Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, at the 6th Annual Nursing and Midwifery Leaders and Managers Conference 2025 in Tamale.
The conference united key stakeholders, including CEOs of teaching hospitals, Regional Directors of Health Services, and nursing and midwifery managers and directors, to discuss enhancing healthcare quality, leadership, and education.
Empowering nursing and midwifery managers stood at the heart of the conference. Discussions highlighted key initiatives for healthcare quality, promoted leadership accountability, and advanced the implementation of Ghana's Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Plan (2024-2028). This plan, which aligns with the WHO's Global Strategic Directions, aims to build a skilled workforce for quality care.
Other highlights included exploring incentive packages for healthcare professionals in underserved areas and establishing research funding for nursing and midwifery innovations. The event also facilitated valuable networking and knowledge sharing among professionals and experts.
