What Did Old Frisian Sound Like? (Part II)

Описание: The ancestor of the modern Frisian languages is called "Old Frisian" and was spoken across Frisia throughout the Middle Ages. Several manuscripts and charters attest the Old Frisian language, from which its close relationship to Old English has been deduced. Together, Old English and Old Frisian formed the Anglo-Frisian branch of North Sea Germanic, sharing many features that are often still found in modern English and modern Frisian. Most Old Frisian texts were legal in nature, pertaining to the Frisian Freedom and the lack of feudal authority in Medieval Frisia.

In this video we'll be looking at the different dialects of Old Frisian - Old West Frisian and Old East Frisian, and what the language looked and sounded like.
