Описание: #willemvantwillertbaroque When I [Willem van Twillert] received a phone call from Harry Jansen, producer of the program, "THERE IS AN ORGAN IN ..." to play two concerts for the TROS radio with a soloist in the mid-'80s, I immediately thought of Bruce Haynes.
His beautiful performance and tone on the Baroque oboe made me enthusiastic about his way of making music.
Shortly after this Dutch radio recording, we also made a private recording in the same church and this recording you can now listen to this.
ABOUT BRUCE HAYNES
BRUCE HAYNES was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1942 and died in Montreal, Quebec aged 69.
Bruce's father played the recorder and oboe and was a music teacher.
HAYNES first played modern oboes in orchestras such as the San Francisco Ballet and Opera orchestra and also in Jalapa, Mexico.
He then went to Friedrich von Huene in Boston, Massachusetts to learn how to make copies of original Baroque hobos. In 1964 he moved to the Netherlands to study Early Music.
Haynes was a pioneer in playing the Baroque oboe which he also made popular in Britain, Italy and Israel and France.
He was one of the founders of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in San Francisco and opened his own studio in California in 1969.
Then he went to perform and did research.
He has performed or recorded sound recordings with F. Brüggen, G. Leonhardt, S. Kuijken, B. Kuijken, a.o.
Haynes became a teacher at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Haynes was an associate professor at the Université de Montréal and McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

HAYNES was a contributor to MGG and the New Grove Dictionary of Music.
Areas of research include the construction, repertory and playing techniques of the hautboy; the history of pitch; historical performance practice; rhetoric; eloquence and the Passions.
He held various doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and was a Senior Fellow of the Canada Council for the Arts in 2003.


In 2011 a compact disc was released by the Montréal Baroque Band conducted by Eric Milnes with six "New Brandenburg concertos Nos. 7-12" by J. S. Bach. Haynes had reconstructed Bach's cantata movements into concertos in the same manner as Bach used to rework his own compositions. "These concertos are not meant as serious reconstructions", Haynes wrote in the cd-booklet, "merely as speculative trials to demonstrate the possibilities for the instrumental treatment of Bach's rich fund of musical inventions contained in the cantatas and other vocal works".

NEDERLANDS
Toen ik midden jaren 80 gebeld werd door Harry Jansen, producer van het programma " ER STAAT EEN ORGEL IN..." om twee concerten voor TROS radio te spelen met een solist erbij, dacht ik direct aan Bruce Haynes.
ZIjn prachtige voordracht en toon op de hobo hadden mij enthousiast gemaakt voor zijn manier van musiceren.
Musicerenn met Bruce Haynes was een belevenis.
Vlak na deze radio opname hebben we deze eigen opname gemaakt in dezelfde kerk.

OVER BRUCE HAYNES
BRUCE HAYNES geboren 1942 in Louisville , Kentucky stierf 2011 in Montreal, Quebec, 69 jaar oud.

In 1964 verhuisde hij naar Nederland om oude muziek te bestuderen.
Haynes was een pionier voor het bespelen van de barokhobo die hij ook populair wist te maken in Groot-Brittannië, Italië en Israël en Frankrijk.
Hij was een van de oprichters van de Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra te San Francisco.
In 1969 opende hij zijn eigen atelier in Californië.
Vervolgens ging hij uitvoeren en deed onderzoek.
Hij trad op of nam geluidsopnamen op met met F. Brüggen, G. Leonhardt, Gebroeders Kuijken o.a.
Haynes werd docent aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium te Den Haag.
Haynes was een universitair hoofddocent van de Université de Montréal en McGill University in Montreal, Quebec , Canada.
Hij werd ook dikwijls uitgenodigd als gastdocent door andere universiteiten en muzikale verenigingen.

HAYNES publiceerde artikelen.
Ook schreef hij op het gebied van onderzoek onder meer over de bouw, repertoire en speeltechnieken van de hobo en over de geschiedenis van toonhoogte ; historische uitvoeringspraktijk; retoriek en de passies.
In 2011 verscheen een CD met Brandenburgese Concerten nr. 7-12 gereconstrueerd door B. Haynes:    • Brandenburg Concerto No. 12: III. Allegro ...
