The title of the talk: Materials and weaves of some important Indian textile
India has a long tradition of weaving of a very wide range of products using cotton, silk, wool etc. These products vary from State to State in terms of their material, weave, colour, pattern etc. It is very important to understand these complicacies not only to gain a knowledge of skill available in our country but also to help in proper conservation and restoration of old textiles. I have tried to document various information on materials and weaves of some important Indian traditional textiles through research and experience. However, presently, there are many deviations in these aspects and I feel there is no justification to cover those in this article.
