Mercedes-Benz E-Class - How to remove / install the instrument cluster | W212

Описание: This video describes the removal of the instrument cluster on the E-Class.
Start on the driver side.
Move the steering wheel down and all the way to the rear.
This provides sufficient space for the removal.
The ignition does not have to be switched on.
Special tools, two hooks, are required for the next steps.
Remove the air vent on the driver side above the rotary light switch.
This is shown here on a removed model.
Insert the hooks over the second slat of the air vent on both sides.
The small hole behind the slats is gripped by the hooks.
Disconnect the two electrical connectors, then detach the air vent.
Pull the two retaining clips in the glove compartment down using the hooks.
This is required for removal of the centre air vents and the air vent on the passenger side.
On the air vent above, insert the hooks as on the driver side.
However, only pull out the air vent slightly.
From the driver side, insert the hooks above the third slat of the centre air vents.
The exact procedure is shown here on a removed model.
Insert the hooks above the third slat and press the plastic retainer to the rear.
Before detaching the panel, disconnect the three connectors behind it.
The following steps require a delicate touch.
The instrument cluster panel is attached at the top with three catch hooks which can break easily.
Apply the assembly wedge carefully.
Subsequent removal is then easy.
Remove the dimmer rotary switch and then four screws on the instrument cluster.
The position of the four screws is shown again here.
The screws are secured and will not fall out.
Before tilting the instrument cluster, place a soft cloth underneath to prevent scratching the display.
Disconnect the connector behind the instrument cluster.
Removal of the instrument cluster is thus complete.
Install in the reverse order.
