First stop is an old local building I stumble upon where pig is being cooked and served. I chat with two women about the age of the structure, ask them where their pigs come from, and how old the building is, as well as how much a meal costs.
We then return to Berastagi market because it's the greatest market I've ever been to - not just for the produce but the people who inhabit the place as well.
We find local slabs of tofu which are famous in the area and talk with the shop owner about their origin as well as the shop's history including the family owners.
There is a parking attendant who is happy to offer us his time and chat with us. He tells us of his occupation and how many bikes are parked with him in one day. He also suggests indonesians are always smiling which I find hard to argue with.
I find the largest assortment of dried fish i've ever seen, local men tell me the cost of coconuts, we look for the hat wearing women of Berastagi, identify a nice photographic scene, and I become suspicious of a man who won't let go of my hand.
Always a great day talking to locals.
