Theodore Roosevelt National Park: where the Great Plains meet the rugged Badlands. This park is made up of two units that are 70 miles apart and it is known for colorful Painted Canyons of bentonite clay, petrified forests and the Maltese Cross Cabin, where President Roosevelt once lived. TRNP maintains booming populations of bison, horses, longhorns, pronghorns, elk and prairie dogs.
There is no doubt in my mind that a place like this could inspire a man to want to protect all of our country's awe-inspiring wildernesses via the park system. It was an adventure I won't soon forget!
