This week I'm visiting the garden of my friend Frank Pizzi, former curator of Horticulture and Ground at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium.
We've known each other for decades and I was excited to see his garden which was a decade in the making.
I'm also planning for fall bulb planting, and have a great trick to mark the areas for planting.
For "You Should Grow This," I highlight an indestructible, deer resistant perennial that's a beauty.
Rob Kruljac from Davey Tree explains what black knot is and how homeowners can deal with the disease.
“Gardening is fun,” Doug says, “you can truly enjoy every day spent outside when you’re tending vegetables, flowers, shrubs, and trees.”
Whether you’re new to gardening or a seasoned tender to your backyard oasis, Doug Oster has something to offer everyone! Simply put, he loves writing about gardening and highlighting gardeners.
Beyond writing, Doug is also an Emmy Award-winning producer, and television host. You can catch Doug hosting The Organic Gardener Radio Show, every Sunday morning at 7 a.m. on Pittsburgh’s KDKA Radio, and read his feature articles in the Pittsburgh Earth Day’s Green Voice e-newsletter.
