Chris Strafford introduces a discussion on Defending Democratic Rights and looks at the increasing authoritarianism of the government. Will things be any better under a Starmer-led Labour government?
The introduction of new anti-strike laws, limits on freedom of speech and the right to protest represent a clear threat to the working class and democratic organisations and movements. The capitalist class is attempting to pit the working class against the trade unions, against climate change protestors and against workers fleeing poverty, persecution and war. We must resist this, turn the tide and go on the offensive for a permanent shift of power in society in favour of the working class majority at home and abroad.
