The Coming 2 America Kilt worn by Wesley Snipes - Is it a real kilt? Are there African cloth Kilts?

Описание: In the film Coming 2 America, the character General Izzi, played by Wesley Snipes, wears a kilt during the wedding party scenes.

The kilt was made by Ruth E. Carter, who won an academy award for costumes in Black Panther. We were asked to discuss the complete Kilt outfit.

We had to take into account the fact that the outfit was meant to be a bit over the top. As Carter explained to one reporter, "The approach with General Izzi for Wesley Snipes was pure costume fun."

That said, the kilt outfit is amazing and does hold some very solid nods to traditional Scottish military and formal Highland Dress. We go into detail in the video but suffice to say - YES it is a real kilt - made by hand from black and gold Kente cloth which is an important cultural product of Ghana.
