Описание: Today we are taking an in-depth look of a patient consulting with Dr. Agha in need of revision plastic surgery after losing a massive amount of weight after open gastric bypass surgery. She initially came to see Dr. Agha in need of a an arm lift revision and tummy tuck revision.

During her consultation, Dr. Agha pointed out that a fleur-de-lis was the best method to rid her of existing scars due to her gastric bypass surgery. Since she had so much excess skin to remove, he recommended either a fleur-de-lis or flankplasty. Let’s break these two techniques down...

A fleur-de-lis is a type of procedure that has two incisions – one along your pubic bone, like in the standard tummy tuck, and a vertical incision that runs along the middle of your abdomen. As Dr. Agha explains, the length of the vertical incision will depend on how high the skin laxity goes up on the abdomen.

A flankplasty is a posterior extension of lower transverse abdominoplasty, this modern technique addresses issues that the traditional tummy typically cannot. The primary goal of flankplasty is to redefine a deeper waist for female patients and remove undesirably large flanks for male patients. Twice the correction can be achieved through the flankplasty approach as it also corrects laxity of the abdomen as well as the back.
