Two employees from the state-run forensics lab at the heart of an enquiry into a series of DNA sample bungles have been stood down, confirmed Queensland’s Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
“The Director-General has stood people down from the forensics unit, pending the outcome of the inquiry,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
An inquiry into DNA testing failures at Queensland’s state-run forensics lab released interim findings on Tuesday, which Ms Palaszczuk described as “shocking”.
The inquiry begins public hearings next week.
