Описание: The second incantation summoned by this Bulgarian duo is much less a contemporary release and definitely more as an artefact unearthed from a frostbitten grave, with its edges chipped from time, and its aura still violently alive. "Ensigns of Evil" carries the unmistakable stench of early second wave black metal’s formative delirium, where chaos was not an aesthetic choice but a necessity and malice seeped naturally into every opening, rejecting deliberately modernity.

A raw black metal assault thrives in this unstable record, where riffs coil in feverish patterns, driven by percussion that sometimes shows a more ritualistic aspect than actual precision, as if beaten from iron rather than played. This suffocating and necrotic production forms a hostile fog where structure is sensed but not clearly seen, echoing its primordial allegiance.

There is an unmistakable kinship with the early Immortal era, particularly the spectral savagery of "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism", yet Haavrun descends even deeper into harshness. Where Immortal conjured frozen but more harmonious vastness, "Ensigns of Evil" seems to prefer the confinement of a collapsing crypt, where its walls are slick with mildew and ancient hatred, as though the demo itself is decomposing in real time.

"Ensigns of Evil" is not a nostalgic exercise but a deliberate regression , even further distillation from its debut, bearing the refusal to evolve in any direction that might dilute its hostility, as a reminder that black metal’s most powerful weapon was never technicality, but the willingness to sound inhuman and utterly irredeemable.
