Watch the Alaska Native Community Engagement & Trust Building webinar that was recorded on August 9, 2022. This is the second webinar of six of the Strengthening Museum Relationships with Indigenous Peoples Webinar Series.
How can we learn from hurtful past and present practices to understand better ways for Museums to uplift and include Native voices in shaping all aspects of our work? How can we help others in our industry understand that this transformation will make our sector and bodies of work stronger? Explore these questions and more as we uplift the voices and perspectives of Alaska Native and Indigenous leaders.
Our special guests were Nalikutaar Jacque Cleveland (Yup’ik), Łiq’a yes Joel Isaak (Dena’ina), Asia Freeman, Nadia Sethi (Alutiiq).
Our hosts were Ayyu Qassataq (Iñupiaq) and Łot’oydaatlno Angela Gonzalez (Koyukon).
@firstalaskansinstitute3753 and @museumsalaska9653 hosted a webinar series committed to reimagining and fostering meaningful relationships with Alaska’s Tribes and Indigenous peoples. The Program’s goal is to transform institutions that are uniquely positioned to protect culturally significant artifacts and grow understanding about the lives of Alaska Native people, past and present. This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
