It would be reductive to say emberdale is only a cautionary tale about the dangers of specifically fire.
But I thought the thumbnail was really funny and the rest came from there.
The story at the beginning was "The sad tale of the Matchbox" (Original by Heinrich Hofmann, Translation by Mark Twain)
Except I removed the second Me-yow! Me-yo! the first time the cats speak and every other instance of them to save time. It really takes away the impact, the story gets dragged out by the cats worrying about how they'll
tell the parents about how Paulinchen burned herself to death, so it feels like she's suffering for way longer. It captures this moment of pure dread where she's technically still alive, but what's a cat going to do to save her?
But the original was around 2 minutes long and I didn't see that as an acceptable ratio of original work to me reading out a story to set the mood.
