There is a lot of really good touring options in the Tokachidake area which is at the southern end of the Daisetsuzan Park. This is really the center of Backcountry skiing in Hokkaido. There are multiple access points into the mountains from here And there is genuine alpine terrain.
The tree skiing is also very good in the old growth spruce forests. Today we had beautiful weather as it was the end of February and the weather is becoming a little bit more stable with the onset of Spring.
