➡ What do distance runners eat? Today I invite you into my kitchen to take a look at my healthy staple food haul. I have also included my treats, because I want to keep it realistic and be transparent with you guys. So if you want to know what I eat to stay lean, healthy, happy and perform well, take a look! 😉
☝ Next up is my "What I eat in a day" video, and this one is specifically related to endurance running, seeing as I am currently training for my next half marathon, but I did it on my long run day! The vlog will include everything I ate and drank that day, including the gels I took on my 15km run. Don't forget to subscribe if you are interested in seeing that.
🚫 I don't like to label my eating habits, although you could say that I generally base my diet around as many whole foods as possible, always with great focus on plant-based meals while proteins are in focus for good recovery and fat is used to boost brain power, increase satiation and fuel my aerobic work outs and runs. I have practiced intermittent fasting since long before I, and probably you, had ever heard that term, but I do so mindfully and with respect to my body and it's hunger and satiation cues. I do not count calories or macros, I have in the past but found it to disrupt my mindfulness and natural eating habits. I am a big proponent of listening to my body, being mindful surrounding foods and meal times, and learning about myself and my body every single time I fuel it.
🍅 Staple foods for me include, but are not limited to: Eggs, cottage cheese, salmon, chicken, all leafy greens, all garden veggies, white and sweet potatoes, buckwheat, quinoa, oats, nuts and seeds, olive oil, fruit and a lot of herbs for flavour!
🙆 My goal is to inspire you to be more mindful, and learn to enjoy the natural rich flavours of food, as well as using it strategically for the benefits it can provide in all aspects of life, regardless of your goals.
