Capping off the first day of his State Visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. meets with the Filipino community in a gathering at the Melia Hotel in Hanoi on January 29, 2024.
Currently, there are about 7,000 Filipinos working and residing in Vietnam. Most of them are professionals, with about 3,000 employed as teachers due to the high demand of English in Vietnam schools and young Vietnamese professionals who want to learn the English language. There are also nurses, doctors, garments supervisors and executives in Filipino companies in Vietnam.
In an interview with RTVM, Ambassador Meynardo Montealegre cited their knowledge and skills in their respective profession that have been instrumental in boosting the economic development of Vietnam.
