Welcome to #Jerusalem, #HolyCity to all three #monotheistic #religions. In this video, we will silently walk through the #PaterNosterChurch, also known as the #EleonaChurch, which is located on the #MountOfOlives in #Jerusalem. Tradition states that this is the location where #Jesus taught his #Disciples the #Lord'sPrayer.

#Luke 11:1-4 describes how Jesus had prayed one day at a certain location. He was then approached by his #Disciples, who asked him to teach them how to pray. According to tradition, the location of this event was right here.

The very first church was built here by #QueenHelena in 326 CE during her #pilgrimage to the #HolyLand. This #Byzantine church was named #EleonaChurch, which means #ChurchOfTheOlive, referring to its location on the #MountOfOlives.

The #EleonaChurch was destroyed in 614 by the invading #Persians, after which the #Crusaders built a humble church on the same location. It was in this #CrusaderChurch that the commemoration of the #PaterNoster prayer was begun. In 1187, #Saladin and his invading army destroyed the #Crusader church, as there had been nothing holy to #Muslims here.

In 1866, French #Princess #AureliaDeBossi bought this territory and invited #CarmeliteNuns from France to come and live here. When she died in 1874, the Princess was then buried at this location.

In 1920, the #FrenchGovernment had begun to restore the ancient church. Due to financial problems, the project had to be stopped, however, and eventually it was totally abandoned. This is why today we actually see an unfinished #Basilica, which features three entrance doors, a stage with an altar, and a few #Byzantine remains.

178 ceramic plates displaying the #LordsPrayer in different languages are displayed throughout the compound. The most special ones are probably those in #Aramaic and in #Hebrew, which had been the languages of #Jesus.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
