Come learn about birds migrating through Missouri in May, and how you can help!
Join Migratory Bird Biologist Sarah Kendrick for a webinar on the marvels of neotropical bird migration and how native plants (and their hosted native insects) supply crucial year-round energy. All of us can do something to benefit birds, whether it’s planting native grasses, forbes, shrubs, and trees; treating windows to prevent collisions; turning out lights during migration; or even drinking bird-friendly coffee.
Sarah Kendrick works for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service as a Migratory Bird Biologist. Sarah is a Missouri native and earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Missouri. She received her Master’s degree studying Eastern Wood-Pewee breeding demography on savanna and woodland restoration sites in the Missouri Ozarks. Sarah was an Outreach and Marketing Coordinator for MDC’s Wildlife Division for 3 years before landing her dream job of State Ornithologist in 2017. Today, she is one of many conservation partners in the Midwest working to conserve, protect, restore, and monitor bird populations and their habitat to benefit future generations. She continues to work with colleagues from Costa Rica, Colombia, Nicaragua and all across the U.S. in the spirit of protecting migratory bird habitat in the Neotropics during the non-breeding season. Sarah loves birdwatching, hiking, her husband Kip, and their 4-year-old son Abram.
This webinar was recorded live on May 7, 2025.
