Singer made a boatload of models that used the same basic gear system - plastic gear teeth on a metal body. The ancient plastics have now given up the ghost and all too many of these machines are sitting on the sidelines, waiting for someone to spend $9.00 for a gear and an hour or two of time to make them run again. I see these machines at yard sales, flea markets, and on Facebook Marketplace all the time for just a few dollars. They make real nice machines with very little effort and expenditure of monetary resources. This video shows a Singer 413, but the procedure is the same for many, many others.
