Today I pulled out a 1930s cookbook and cooked three classic recipes on my wood cookstove — pigs in a blanket, a fluffy white cake, and homemade ice cream.

There is something grounding about stepping back in time and using the methods that generations before us relied on every day. Cooking on a wood cookstove isn’t just about heat — it’s about rhythm, temperature awareness, and paying attention.
