I got heads up of this inbound train when it was approaching Zaloba siding some 30-40km away from Gweru station. Waited for almost 2 hours for it to arrive. Too many cautions/slow orders along the line. After the wait Transnet class 37-085 GT26M2C pulled in with 16 loaded wagons. She has a very distinctive horn, I suspect its faulty. I expected them to make a brief stop but the crew slowed a bit and told me they got new orders to proceed non-stop to Dabuka. My intention was to capture them take off (to hear the raw 645 prime mover wind-up) hence the delayed action.
Currently these 37-000 (only two in service) are the heaviest diesel locomotives on the NRZ system @ 126tons. These are heavier than GT26CU-2 (DE11A) and now defunct EL1s.
