Just outside of Chiang Rai stands the monumental statue of Guan Yin at Wat Huay Pla Kang. Often referred to as “Big Buddha,” this breathtaking figure represents the Bodhisattva of Compassion—known in Sanskrit as Avalokiteśvara, in Chinese as Guan Yin, and in Thailand as เจ้าแม่กวนอิม (Chao Mae Guan Im). From history to living practice, Guan Yin’s message of compassion continues to inspire across cultures and generations.
