Fish finders cost several hundred and even thousands of dollars, plus the boat you install them onto. But the Garmin Striker Cast with GPS is only $180 ($130 without the GPS feature), and you can use it from the bank.

At least, that's what Garmin told me before sending it over, but after reading reviews like this, I was a little skeptical-

"Kayak Fisherman. This device does not work with all Android phones. This information doesn't seem to be known by Garmin tech support. I detailed my issues with their chat then email support before finally being ignored. Figured it out on my own. - John

So, here's the plan to test the Garmin Striker Cast.

Step 1 - See if my phone connects.

Segment B - Check to see if there are fish in my pool. We haven't taken the tarp off for the summer yet, so this might be a little challenging to actually verify.

Part 3 - Take it to multiple ponds to ensure it works. I don't have two summers to test it, but I do have access to two ponds!

Section 4 - Give my honest feedback on this unit. The Pros, the cons, who should buy it, and who should avoid it.

Who Should Buy It?
Bank anglers at ponds, lakes, creeks, and slow-moving rivers.
Kayak anglers can benefit from it if they're not constantly on the move, but there are much better options for yak anglers and boaters.
