Chateau Clerc Milon (pronounced "Clair" or "Cler" + Milon...."c" at the end of Clerc is silent). Many people (including me througout this video, apologies!) do pronounce it incorrectly as Clerc (with the non silent "c") or refer to it as the 2 dancer wine.

Clerc Milon was acquired by the Clerc family in 1789. Milon is the hamlet in Pauillac where the winery is located. It was given 5th growth status in the 1855 Classification System. After 1877, it was purchased by a notary called Mondon and for many years it was known as Clerc Milon Mondon. It went through many owners and because of inheritance law, the estate was split up or sold and by the time Baron Phillippe Rothschild bought the estate in 1970, it was a shell of its former self.

Baron Phillippe Rothschild (who also owns Mouton Rothschild and D'Armailhac) purchased the winery in 1970. At that time, the winery was only 17 hectares. Slowly, the Baron repurchased all the lands of this estate and now it is back up to 41 hectares.

It is located in the north eastern part of Pauillac on the hilltop of Mousset. It is mostly gravel soil sitting on clay limestone base. The winery is planted with 50% Cab Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Carmenere

The label of Clerc Milon between 1970-1983 featured a silver gilt marriage cup. In 1983, the label was changed to a statue with 2 dancers created by a 17th century goldsmith displayed in Museum of Wine in Art at Mouton Rothschild

Clerc Milon has made many improvements to the winery in the last few years. In 2007, the built the first gravity fed vat house in Bordeaux and in 2011, they finished their new barrel cellar. Their wines are aged 30% in new oak for 14-18 months.

The blend of the 2009 vintage is 50% Cab Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 4% Cab Franc, 1% Petit Verdot, 1% Carmenere
