Guiding Francophone Québecois Travelers
A cultural training workshop for Portuguese tourist guides and members of SNATTI
With more Canadians travelling to Europe and more direct flights available, Portugal is welcoming a growing number of Québecois (French-speaking Canadians) travelling in groups. This trend will continue to grow.
This practical workshop is designed for SNATTI Portuguese guides who work in French with Francophone Québecois travellers. It is also useful for guides working in English with Québecois groups.
Guides will gain concrete tools to better understand Québecois culture, communication styles, expectations, and food preferences.
🔹 Part I focuses on culture, regional differences, and practical do’s and don’ts
🔹 Part II focuses on understanding Québec French, expressions, and what travellers really mean

Travailler avec les voyageurs québécois
Atelier de formation culturelle pour guides touristiques portugais
Avec l’augmentation des voyages des Canadiens vers l’Europe et la multiplication des vols directs, le Portugal accueille de plus en plus de voyageurs québécois francophones voyageant en groupes.
Cet atelier s’adresse aux guides portugais membres de la SNATTI qui travaillent en français avec des voyageurs québécois francophones. Il est aussi pertinent pour les guides travaillant en anglais avec des groupes québécois.
L’atelier offre des outils concrets pour mieux comprendre la culture québécoise, la communication, les attentes et les habitudes alimentaires.

🔹 La Partie II porte sur le français québécois, les expressions et ce que les voyageurs veulent vraiment dire

Workshop de formação cultural para guias turísticos portugueses
Com o aumento do número de canadianos a viajar para a Europa e mais ligações aéreas diretas, Portugal recebe cada vez mais viajantes quebequenses francófonos a viajar em grupos.
Este workshop destina-se a guias turísticos portugueses membros da SNATTI que trabalham em francês com viajantes do Québec. É também útil para guias que trabalham em inglês com grupos quebequenses.
O workshop fornece ferramentas práticas para compreender melhor a cultura, a comunicação, as expectativas e a linguagem alimentar dos viajantes quebequenses.

🔹 A Parte II aborda o francês do Québec, expressões e o que os viajantes realmente querem dizer

Speaker Bio
Ruby Roy is President Emeritus of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) and has nearly three decades of international volunteer and professional experience in tourism training, conference planning, and cultural awareness.
She played a key role in organizing and planning successful WFTGA conventions from 1997 to 2007, served on the Executive Board before becoming President, and returned to the Board from 2015 to 2019. Ruby continues to actively support both WFTGA and FEG, including delivering video content creation training during the pandemic.
Since 1997, Ruby has delivered training programs, workshops, and evaluations worldwide, with a strong specialization in Cultural Awareness workshops, many developed specifically for WFTGA members. Her training expertise focuses on luxury tourism, diplomatic and protocol services, corporate events, and media relations, working closely with high-level tourism professionals.
A licensed professional guide in Montréal, Ruby specializes in high-end, niche, and corporate travel, and is recognized as Canada’s first culinary guide. Her professional background also includes work in media relations for tourism offices, as well as experience in hotels, concierge services, airlines, airports, and transportation companies.
Ruby speaks several languages, has lived in over 30 countries, and has travelled to 151 countries, bringing a truly global and practical perspective to her training.
