DISCLAIMER: These Elevators are located behind the Main Elevators in the Main Tower in the Stairwell Corridor of the Hotel. While Service Elevators can sometimes be in public areas, If your told you can't ride them, you MUST comply. I later got A Security guard to escort me on these, and if you want to ride these, I HIGHLY recommend asking Permission, but by now the old elevator in the video is probably out of service by now and the parts are probably being scrapped by now, so these are probably not worth seeing now. Taken in June 2017.
Anyways, These are Currently Being Modernized Service Elevators at The Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. This video features a ride on the Only Remaining Old Otis Touch Sensitive in the hotel On the far left, along with a Newly Modernized/Replaced KONE Ecodisc on the far right. The Middle Elevator was being replaced as you saw, and all of the elevators will sadly look like the one on the far right very soon. As for the 2 that were working, the far left one which is an Otis Circle Touch Sensitive from the 1960s or Early 1970s, and it was AMAZING!!!! As for the BRAND NEW KONE on the far right, it was a piece of GARBAGE. These Elevators were originally installed in 1924 as Otis Signal Control, then modded by Otis with Touch Sensitive and now being modded AGAIN!!!! I am pretty angry they modded all of the elevators here, but I'm glad I was able to ride the one on the far left with the old buttons. NOTICE How the Old Call Buttons are Covered up saying "Noveau Button" (Use other button in French) LOL. Also, notice how the security guard who allowed me to ride these pushes the call button, and it stops lighting up without calling an elevator!!!!! Typical Cheap Glitchy KONE Controllers!!!! Typical KONE Quality at its' finest!!!!! Also, Notice the Elevator on the left screams the 60s and has an Otis Globe and Otis Sito Door Track, but the right elevator is stainless steel and has no Otis logo or door track, and there was no metal slapped over where the old indicator would've been, it was new paneling, so I'm almost POSITIVE this is a TOTAL REPLACEMENT!!!!! I mean, notice how different the 2 elevators looked!!!! These Elevators were VERY BUSY and getting a LOT of use as there was parties and a wedding going on when I was staying here, and 1 elevator being out didn't help. The Old Elevator had an AWESOME BELL, but the New Elevator had a VERY GENERIC Modern chime. If there is ANYTHING Positive about this mod, it would be that KONE used a REALLY COOL European style call station on the 17th floor, other than that, the Mod Sucks just as much as the Passenger Elevators!!!! Anyways, with that being said, enjoy an AMAZING VINTAGE OTIS TOUCH SENSITIVE, before it gets DESTROYED by KONE like every other elevator in the hotel......
Anyways If you are interested in seeing these elevators when all 3 were original from their Touch Sensitive Modernization and the old call buttons were still in use, watch Elevator Ottawa's video "Otis touch sensitive beautiful elevators at chateau fortunnac hotel quebec city".
