If you feel “stuck” through impact and your club path feels jammed and keeps moving out to the right (for a right-handed player), your body might be the limiter, not your swing thoughts. Two common restrictions that contribute to this are limited lead hip internal rotation and limited lead shoulder external rotation. When those two joints do not give you enough space, the club can struggle to exit left and you end up fighting a path that keeps working right.
In this video, I show a simple setup adjustment that can instantly create room: move your front foot back about half a foot (a small “drop back” of the lead foot). This subtly changes how your hips and shoulders can organize, and it often makes it easier to swing the club more to the left without feeling like you have to manipulate your hands.
What you’ll learn:
Why lead hip internal rotation restrictions can limit space to rotate and exit left
Why lead shoulder external rotation restrictions can affect how the arms deliver the club
How dropping the front foot back can create room and improve swing direction
What to look for in your ball flight when the setup change is working
This is not a “forever fix” for everyone. It is a practical option when your body needs a little more room to let the club do what it wants to do.
