Eva Dove & Izayah Dutcher, violin solos. This is from the "Gallery View" concert by the MusicaNova Orchestra Chamber Players on Nov. 21, 2021, at the Mountain View Presbyterian Church-South Campus.
Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745-1799), was a Guadeloupean Creole classical composer, virtuoso violinist, and champion fencer. He composed and published numerous operas, string quartets, concertos, and symphonies from 1771-1779. He performed all his violin concertos as soloist with Le Concert Olympique in Paris — an orchestra he also conducted.
“Gallery View” is a reflection on the shared experience of working with other musicians through Zoom and navigating the return to performing live.
Concertmaster Julian Nguyen, who leads this program with the MusicaNova Chamber Players, “found it fascinating attending studio classes/performances on Zoom and putting it in gallery mode. It was interesting watching the performer and all of the attendees up close with the camera pointed directly at their faces, in contrast to a typical performance where the audience is looking at one performer.”
This concert featured musicians in solo, chamber and orchestral configurations, but with the full orchestra on stage — a gallery view in real life.
