Visiting Dambulla Cave Temple

We arrived a little too soon at 6.30 a.m. and had to wake up the
monk at the rear entrance. This way up is all steps but probably
easier than a steep winding path directly behind the Golden Temple, which most people use. You are treated to incredible views as you climb the steps. In order to enter the temple you need to bring something to cover your legs, long pants or a sarong. Your shoes will be kept on a rack outside and a small fee will be chargeable to retrieve them.
Watch out for the many monkey's eager to steal things.
