Country Doctor Pipe Tobacco

Today, I have the pleasure of cracking open a can of good old Country Doctor Pipe Mixture. This blend has quite some history to it. It started out as a Philip Morris mixture in the 1940s and featured Danish Actor Jean Hersholt, who was a passionate pipe smoker in real life. Hersholt played a "Country Doctor" in various radio programs and motion pictures throughout the 1930s-1950s. Hence, the name of the pipe blend and the legendary photo of the man himself on the can!

Now, Philip Morris eventually sold this blend over to House of Windsor, which is the version that I open in this video. Sadly, the blend is now long discontinued but there is a match blend out there. Much like other match blends and their respective counterpart originals, it pays homage but is not a true clone in my opinion.

The stout classic American style mixture is composed of Burley, Virginia, Latakia, and Perique. It has been compared to the likes of Revelation, although the cut is courser and the blend is lightly topped with a faint note of berry or some unique fruit. Lets just say that this pipe mixture is my diagnosis for pure pipe enjoyment! Three cheers for the good Country Doctor!
