UCLA CHIPTS Rapid, Rigorous, Relevant (3R) and the San Diego CFAR Implementation Science Hubs co-hosted a methods workshop entitled, “Roll-out implementation optimization (ROIO) in Practice: Methodological Considerations and Case Examples,” on Friday, May 30, from 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM PT.

By the end of this workshop, participants were able to:
Define the ROIO study design and explain how it differs from traditional stepped wedge and hybrid implementation-effectiveness designs.
Describe key methodological considerations for planning and executing a ROIO study, including timing of roll-out, adaptation tracking, and real-time optimization.
Identify appropriate contexts and research questions for which the ROIO design is best suited, with attention to health systems implementation.
