Mechanical Ipso WE55 commercial washer from 80-90s' - Whites hot wash with pre-wash

Back at the laundromat with the rare vintage blue ipso mechanical washers today after a long time, but this time I made it more epic. Filmed the hot wash 90C with pre-wash cycle in one of them!

This is a highspin model which goes to 800RPM instead of 500 on the final spin. They are extremely rare normally but here they are everywhere. Connected to hot and cold fill so it has no heating element for the water. Fantastic water levels.

The hot wash cycle also does a seperate rinse before the main wash, so it can do an even more proper wash. Pre-wash, inter. spin, rinse, inter.spin then main wash. Pretty cool.


Load: Whites (bed sheets, towels and socks)

Programme 1, hot wash 90C with pre-wash

800 RPM final spin

Using bonux powder detergent

& drying in a primus PUT030 stacked gas heated dryer on high temp. for 18 mins.


The place maintetance is still great, and the machines are in mint condition for their age. Pricing is good too. However there is 1 machine in very bad shape currently, the ipso number 9 which you can see at the photos at the end. For some reason it has no glass and no door handle, drum is rusted and timer is missing. Wonder what happened because it was perfect a while ago...Overall everything is still great here.

Something weird though, when I started the machine selected programme button came right off, but when I pressed it back on everything went ok.
